The
Nerve & Muscle Center of Texas employs professional and
experienced staff essential to the proper and rapid completion of
clinical trials. The organization consists of ten full and part
time employees, including a registered nurse and physician who serves as
Senior Clinical Research Coordinator. These detail-oriented
personnel ensure strict adherence to protocol procedures in accordance
with the Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines. Timely and
systematic completion of study Case Report Forms (CRFs) and all other
source documents ensures the immediate and accurate collection of
consistent data. Furthermore, the organization has established a
system to report all Serious Adverse Event (SAE) instantly to the proper
channels, as specified by the sponsor protocol.
Integrating
excellent communication skills with friendly bed-side manners, the
medical staff effectively communicates with a wide range of study
participants through a variety of languages, including: Spanish,
English, Russian, German, Armenian, and Arabic.

George Manoukian, BS, Clinical
Research Coordinator, fully dedicates his time to clinical research. In this essential
position, Mr. Manoukian is responsible for patient recruitment,
advertising, patient screening, informed consent discussions, drug
accountability, randomization, scheduling, conducting patient visits,
CRF completion, ECG procedures, budget management, and working with
CRAs.

Medical Director and Principal Investigator of the Nerve and Muscle
Center of Texas, Aziz Shaibani, MD, FACP,
is responsible for conducting and overseeing all clinical aspects of the
research center. Dr. Shaibani is board-certified by the American
Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, the American Board of Electro
Diagnostic Medicine, and the Subspecialty Board of Clinical
Neurophysiology. With eight years of research experience, Dr.
Shaibani has conducted a variety of Neurological clinical trials.
In addition, he has extensive training and experience in Electromyograms
(EMG), muscle biopsies and nerve biopsies. Dr. Shaibani serves as
an attending Neurologist at a number of major hospitals in Houston and
the surrounding areas. He finished his training at Baylor College
of Medicine, then served as a full time faculty member in the Department
of Neurology at the same medical school, and presently holds a teaching
position with the St. Joseph Hospital residency program. Among his
many achievements, Dr. Shaibani received the Teaching Specialist of the
Year Award in 1997 from the St. Joseph Hospital Family Practice
Program. He has given numerous presentations and lectures in
addition to publishing several book chapters, journal articles, and
abstracts.
